Systems we install
The right system depends on the building, the fuel available, how long you plan to stay and how much you value efficiency versus upfront cost. We explain the trade-offs plainly rather than steering every customer to the most expensive unit.
- Air-source heat pumps and dual-fuel systems
- Gas furnaces and air handlers
- Central air conditioning
- Ductless mini-splits for additions, garages and offices
- Commercial rooftop units and split systems
- Thermostats, zoning and controls
- Ductwork repair, sealing and modifications
Sized with a load calculation, not a guess
An oversized system short-cycles and leaves a home humid in Tennessee summers; an undersized one runs nonstop. We size equipment with a load calculation that considers insulation, windows, orientation and ductwork, and we check whether your existing ducts can deliver the airflow the new system needs.
Electrical and HVAC in one visit
Many HVAC replacements need electrical changes: a larger breaker, a new disconnect, a dedicated circuit for a heat pump or controls wiring. Most HVAC companies subcontract that work. GridWise Energy’s own electricians handle it, so the system is installed, wired and inspected without waiting on a second contractor.
When to repair and when to replace
Age, refrigerant type, repair history and efficiency all matter. A system that is nearing the end of its expected life, needs a major component and uses phased-out refrigerant is often a better candidate for replacement. We show you the numbers for both options and let you decide.
| System type | Good fit for | Consider |
|---|---|---|
| Heat pump | All-electric homes, mild winters | Cold-weather performance and backup heat |
| Dual fuel | Homes with gas service | Gas furnace backup with heat pump efficiency |
| Gas furnace + AC | Existing gas homes | Separate equipment and fuel costs |
| Mini-split | Additions and rooms without ducts | Indoor unit placement |
| Rooftop unit | Retail, office and light industrial | Crane access and curb adapters |
